The next Summer Academiy for integrative medicin will start in August 2024.
With the theme "Departure into a healing health system" the Summer Academy takes place from the 09th to August 16th.
What can you expect this year?
What makes a good and healing practice?
How must institutions be designed so that we can work medically and therapeutically as we see fit?
What paradigms and developments is our current medical system based on and what do we need so that it can be different in the future?
In short, how can we achieve effective and future-oriented action?
We want to explore these and other questions about the major challenges in our medical system at the Summer Academy 2024.
We want to bridge the gap between theory and practice, from general, epistemological and medical-historical considerations to very specific examples of how healing practice is already being implemented. We will focus on six aspects in particular over the individual days of the Summer Academy:
- teaching: How can we learn and teach the medicine of the future?
- the economy: How do we finance this medicine?
- Politics: What is the legal and social framework for the medicine of the future?
- Practice: What could corresponding institutions look like?
- the underlying self-image: What kind of view of humanity and the world do we base our work on?
- and finally, the overarching question of the connection between medicine and ecology in the broadest sense.
This week will therefore focus on gaining a better understanding of medicine in its origins, being and becoming, in order to become capable of acting for a healthy world of tomorrow.
During this summer academy, we will focus on integrative medicine in an action-oriented way in order to make it clear how the various approaches in the therapeutic process affect both the individual level and the whole of creation in the sense of Planetary Health. To this end, it is not only necessary to look at the various medical systems and therapeutic approaches, the interplay of which constitutes integrative medicine, but also to identify misunderstandings and barriers in the current medical system. On this basis, ideas and approaches can be developed that enable independent participation in a more healing practice.
By highlighting future-oriented medical projects that are already in operation, we want to build on the action-oriented approach of last year ("Action in Motion - Project: Effective Action"). We will therefore deliberately place our own experience of a variety of practical and creative therapies alongside getting to know interesting projects. This time, we also want to take a closer look at the special features of medical care for specific age groups and groups of people.
In order to provide such a broad orientation
In order to stimulate such a broad orientation and facilitate the linking of the various subject areas, the fundamental considerations of the plenary lectures will be flanked by reflective discussion rounds and intensive workshops will be deepened by practical offers. Getting to know projects that are trying out new approaches can inspire and encourage us. We are hoping for exciting presentations, e.g. from health centers, interdisciplinary or multimodal departments in clinics and interprofessional, solidarity-based healthcare projects, such as the "Grüne Aue Hermaringen"
We will therefore be setting new priorities in the weekly schedule and weighting some elements differently. At the same time, however, we will continue to try to make everyday life at the Summer Academy itself an example of a healing practice: from the food to the breaks and the evening program. As we know from previous years, this is a great and rewarding challenge for everyone involved, who are always looking for new, creative solutions.

Participants, lecturers, helpers, friends and many other great people made their contribution so that we were able to meet and get to know each other for a week and were able to collect and deepen a lot of new impulses and new knowledge.
